I’ve never been to a major automotive race before. Sure, I’ve been to the drag strip, and I’ve watched NASCAR on television. I can recall once attending a race at Limerock with my best friend Corwin over a decade ago…but I don’t remember much about it.
Friday and Saturday, I just about lived at Limerock. Boy, what a ride.
Friday, it rained, all day. Nicole and I were granted media photographer passes, which got us on the other side of the fence around the park. This gave us a chance to photograph the cars up close and personal. I just didn’t realize how loud they would be.
The earth rumbled. Our ears bled. And the adrenaline pumped. Nothing like dozens of high-horsepower racing machines flying by a few feet away to make you feel alive. The smell of race gas permeated the air and since Lime Rock is such a short course, there were just a few seconds of respite between laps before the cars came roaring around the corner again.
Alas, the team I was rooting for, Corvette Racing, was denied pole position again. They’ve been having a rough season, and Lime Rock was no exception.
After having attended this race though, I’ve realized that I need to go to as many motorsports races as possible. We had a blast (yes, Nicole too…she loves the loud cars, imagine that!) I also got to work and enjoy myself…an odd combination in any field. As you can see from the pictures, Nicole has an eye for photography. If I could just convince her to do it full time, we’d be quite the dynamic duo.
Enough rambling from me. Enjoy the photos!

My son and I took a picture of you and a girl photographer at Limerock. Then you took a picture of us, do you have that picture for us to see?
It was Saturday during the race.
